- Build a relationship. Make real efforts to build an affinity with your customer base. This takes ongoing effort. Never assume you don’t have to work at your relationship.
- Your Customer Likes To Dance. They want you to be the lead, but they don’t want to be dragged around the floor. Learn to ask for the business constantly, but be a gentleman.
- Make it EASY to do business with you – Customers are lazy. How hard is it to get through your voicemail or your website? How hard is it to return items?
- Guarantees are NOT a liability, they are a sales tool. The longer and stronger, the less they’ll use it, and the more business it will create. Go all out on your guarantee.
- Understand the value of your brand. Are you a Brand…or a Commodity? You have one, just ask your customers. A brand isn’t about a fancy logo or clever jingle. A brand is who you are: Your values, your business ethics, your quality, your word.
- Ask for testimonials and case histories. Let the world know you’re good, experienced, and are proven… all in the glorious words of your satisfied customers. They don’t have to be perfect, just real.
- Add in simple upsells at every opportunity. Never be a one-product company. If you don’t have related items you can add, find them.
